Post Surgery Care

Immediately After Surgery

Right after the operation, you may take an occasional sip of water or suck on an ice cube, but you shouldn’t drink more than this. The next day, you will drink a little more fluid, but still only a small amount at a time. In addition to water, you will want to drink clear liquids that provide an adequate number of calories. It’s important at this time to avoid drinking too much, which may cause nausea and vomiting.
